COVID-19 updates: Representatives will not be in the MCFRC office till further notice) Department of Human Services (DHS)( Representatives from the Department of Human Services (DHS) are at the Center on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. to help with DHS appointments and questions. Our advocates can also assist with initial applications for Medi-Cal, Food Stamps, and Cash Aid at any time. State and Federal Field Representatives Every second Tuesday of the month, representatives from U. S. Congressman Kevin McCarthy, State Assemblyman Vince Fong, and State Senator Jean Fuller's offices join us at the Family Resource Center. These representatives can assist with a variety of matters, including DMV, immigration, and state disability issues. Code Compliance/Complaint Assistance If you have concerns regarding public health and safety within the community, the Center can assist with filing complaints with Kern County Code Compliance. After the initial filing, we can also follow-up with the appropriate representative to learn the outcome of the investigation. Dog Licenses/Spay and Neuter Vouchers (Program is Suspended until further notice) The Center works in partnership with Kern County Animal Services to provide dog licenses, tags, and renewals in our community. We work with local partners with limited spay and neuter vouchers. Kern Aging and Adult Services Representative Once a month, a representative from Aging and Adult Services is available at the Center to assist seniors with a variety of issues, including In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), nutrition services, legal services, elder abuse claims, health insurance counseling, caregiver support, and disease prevention. |
